Liberation of Acting

Barbara wrote many poems, one of which was recently set to music and performed by Susan Raven.

The Gift by Barbara Bridgmont

The gift of the experience of love
Wrapped in a rainbow of bright Joy was there.
One only had to lift the heart above
By listening, and take it from the air.

There seemed no harm in that, in the strange land
Where life and light and love flow like the sea —
Where Perfectness of Things seem close at hand
Urging the spirit on to what should be.

On earth that gift is too intense to bear
(Tied by the crimson cord of unbelonging)
Joy, that, unendurable and rare
Leads where waves of the fear of Death lie thronging.

Help me to leave that love where it belongs:-
In worlds where wonders blossom into songs.
